And that wraps up chapter 1! Thanks for keeping up with Nell's journey so far <3 I've been experimenting with larger panels both bc it's easier for me to work on backgrounds and so it's less cluttered, which is something I'm still struggling with in terms of pacing and flow. I had to look up old traditional kitchens for Nell's kitchen and wow there was like no info anywhere (or maybe i'm bad at researaching lmao) but i did find a cool article about clay kitchens and the cross cultural trade of kitchen design in bronze age China/Korea/Japan??
I'm going to be taking a 6 week haitus and return mid-June as I'm going to be on vacation and also build a buffer for the next chapter. I'll try to keep everyone updated as new things will be in store when I return~

Worldbuilding Tidbits:

- Nell and her mum run a flyer breeding ranch and most recently restarted their messenger business, based on the vestige of her da's old courier network during the Kanto-Johto War. It's on its last run however as they really only have one breeding pair left, Paige (the one Nell is riding) and Perry and a couple of Pidgeys. Nell does most of the messaging since her mum can't fly much anymore.
- Their kitchen uses clay furnaces and clay pots, the simplest and cheapest goods that can be found in their area. More modern appliances tend to be located in larger cities like Goldenrod or in Kanto.
- Nell's father's name 蓝伝 彩娜 is read vertically left to right (East Asian style) and is a rough Chinese/Japanese translation of 'Aiden Ayana'. 蓝伝 is the Kanji translation of 'Aiden' but in Chinese means "blue dragonfly'. 彩娜 in Japanese translates to 彩 (aya) meaning "colour", and 娜 (na) meaning "elegant, graceful, delicate". Obviously I put waaay too much time and effort into the name of a dead man.
